1915 – 2004

DADE CITY, Fla. – Otis Avery Browning Jr., 89, of Dade City, Fla., and Weld, passed away on Feb. 25, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice House, Clinton Ave..

He was born Jan. 22, 1915, the son of Otis A. Browning Sr. and Grace Yerrington Browning in Preston, Conn.

He received his education in the schools of Preston. He married Dorothy Louise Spalding of Norwich, Conn., on Jan. 28, 1939.

He worked the family farm in Preston for many years with Jersey cattle.

He also raised vegetables, strawberries and cultivated blueberries. He later moved to the Farmington area working in the Dryden office of Forster Manufacturing Co.

He owned and operated Deer Run Farm on Porter Hill, Farmington with his son Howard.

He was proud of his award winning herd of registered Ayshire cattle. Of the many awards received by Deer Run Farm, he was most proud of the award for the Greatest Milk Production for his farm class.

Upon retirement, he resided in Wilton and most recently on School St. in Weld. He continued his love of gardening and sharing vegetables with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 65 years; two sons, Otis A. Browning, III and his wife Theresa of Canielson, Conn., Howard S. Browning and his companion Cathy Hastings of Tanganoxie, Kan.; three daughters, Sandra J. Gulich of Dushore, Pa., Ruth A. True and her husband Donald of Dade City, Fla., and Wilton and Elizabeth G. Nash and her husband Donald of Dixfield; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia L. Paulsrud; and two brothers, Clark W. and Charles E. Browning.
