STRONG – Candidates running for municipal office face no opposition on the ballot this year.

Elections for three selectmen, town clerk and fire chief are scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the Forster Building.

Incumbent selectmen’s Chairman Perry Ellsworth is seeking re-election to his ninth year as town official in an effort to continue to give something back to the community.

Selectman Joseph “Jeff” O’Donnell, a lead mechanic, has served one term as a selectman and is seeking re-election. He hopes to be able to continue to help the town through hard times due to mills closing.

Both men are seeking three-year terms.

Newcomer Roger Corson is running for election to a two-year term as selectman. The position was left vacant after the death of Selectman Donald Richards last year.

Corson is running for personal reasons, he said, in hopes of making some changes.

Clerk Eunice Shurtleff is seeking re-election to her 16th year in office. The position is a three-year term. Last year, voters rejected making the clerk an appointed position.

Fire Chief Doug Timberlake has served more than eight years as head of the Fire Department. He is running to lead the Department for another three years.
