LEWISTON – The Holy Family Faith Formation Office will offer a class titled “Light of the Nations, What is the Church?” in a continuing series of adult education classes. The presenter will be Michael Tyne.

Tyne is a religion teacher at St. Dominic Regional High School in Auburn. Before that he taught high school English, as well as coaching football and baseball. He held other jobs such as sportswriter, bartender and construction worker before studying theology at Yale Divinity School.

Tyne studied philosophy for a year in Washington, D.C., and theology for three years in Rome, Italy. He is engaged to be married in June.

The classes, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., will have six one-hour sessions on the following subjects:

Week 1, March 2, “Did Vatican II Change Everything?”

Week 2, March 9, ” What is an Ecumenical Council?”

Week 3, March 16, “The Context of Vatican II.”

Week 4, March 23, “How Does Vatican II Define the Church?”

Week 5, March 30, “Is This Definition New?”

Week 6, April 6, “What Does it Mean for Us to be the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ and the People of Christ?”

There will be a question-and-answer period at the end of all sessions, which will be held at the Holy Family Rectory Meeting Room, 607 Sabattus St.
