NEWRY – The beloved fairy tale about a sleeping princess under a wicked enchantment comes to life as the National Marionette Theatre brings “Sleeping Beauty” to Sunday River Ski Resort Saturday, March 13.

The story has all the elements of fantasy: fairy gifts and curses, a magic spinning wheel, an enchanted forest and a battle with a fire-breathing dragon.

Using the music from Tchaikovsky’s ballet score, the National Marionette Theatre has mounted a beautiful production with sumptuous sets and costumes.

The National Marionette Theatre has been in existence for over 40 years. Each season the company tours worldwide with productions for adults as well as family audiences. Noted for the beautiful visual look of each show as well as for their manipulation technique, they have received national and international awards for excellence in the field of puppetry.

Curtain time for this final program in the Black Diamond Family Entertainment Series is 7 p.m. in the grand ballroom of the Grand Summit Resort Hotel at Sunday River.
