NORWAY – The next Norway Coffeehouse open mic night at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St., will be Friday, Feb. 27.

Sign-up for performers begins at 6:30, and the open mike begins around 7 p.m. Performers of all ages are urged to bring and share their acoustic musical instruments, original music and poetry in a relaxed atmosphere. Non-performing audience folks are also invited. There will be vending opportunities for those artists with CDs or writing for sale; refreshments will be available.

In months past, singer-songwriters, magicians, stand-up comedians, poets and dancers, both children and adults, have participated. Now in its third year, the monthly open mike nights, hosted by Maine performer and recording artist Heather Pierson, have raised hundreds of dollars for local nonprofit and charitable agencies.

“This is a night of good family fun,” says Pierson. “Everyone is welcome here, especially those who want to just come and listen. Participation is not required!”

Admission is $3.
