LEWISTON – The YWCA of Central Maine will offer American Red Cross lifeguard courses and a water safety instructor course starting in March.
The two lifeguard courses will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, March 7, 14 and 21, and April 4, 18 and 25.
The course is designed to provide the minimum necessary skills training for an individual to qualify as a lifeguard. Participants must be 15 on or before the last scheduled class. The course includes American Red Cross first aid and CPR for the professional rescuer.
The American Red Cross water safety instructor course will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. starting Wednesday, March 3. A schedule of classes will be given at time of registration.
The purpose is to train instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross swimming and water safety courses. Participants must be 17 at the start of the course.
