AUBURN – A teenager was arrested early Friday and accused of stabbing a man during a fight on Court Street. Two others were arrested on charges of hampering police efforts to arrest the suspect.
Adam D. Merrell, 19, of 103 High St., was charged with aggravated assault three hours after the 1 a.m. scrap. He was booked at the Androscoggin County Jail and released Friday afternoon on $300 cash bail.
The victim, a 20-year-old local man, was treated for a wound to his side under his arm and later released from the hospital. Police did not release the name of the victim.
At about 1:15 a.m., police were called to a home on Highland Avenue where a man in a basement apartment was said to be bleeding from a stab wound.
Police found the victim was conscious and alert and the wound was not considered life-threatening.
Merrell was arrested at 4:15 a.m. on Maple Street, roughly a half-mile from where the victim was found, police said.
Also arrested were 35-year-old Dennis Allen and 29-year-old Olivia Allen. Both live at 17 Maple St. and each was charged with hindering apprehension.
Police did not say what led to the fight.
