JAY – Selectmen are scheduled Monday to consider confirmation of road posting, discuss foreclosed property and get an update on a development corporation.

But prior to conducting their selectmen’s duties, town officials will don their assessors’ hats to discuss depreciation.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Community Building.

Town Manager Ruth Marden said the assessors are going to talk about sewer rates and whether they should apply a functional obsolescence depreciation to property outside of town, which doesn’t have town sewers.

Selectmen rejected increasing the sewer rate from $175 to $195 to sewer users recently.

The rest of the sewer treatment costs are covered by taxation.

Sewer Superintendent Mark Holt told residents who complained about increasing the rate that if they had to cover sewer expenses without taxation kicking in, their bills would be more than $500 a year per unit.

Also on the selectmen’s agenda is an update from a Portland Natural Gas representative.
