NORWAY – Winners have been announced in the 34th annual Ice Fishing Derby sponsored by the Norway-Paris Fish & Game Association on Norway Lake.

Over 1,600 tickets were sold for the event that serves as a major fund-raiser for the local group that works to preserve the hunting and fishing heritage in the Oxford Hills area.

Six categories yielded $50 first prizes for the largest fish by weight. Five trophies went to youngsters 12-under, and there were other consolation prizes.

Josh Brown, 11, of South Paris, won the $50 prize for the largest bass (7-pounds, 4-ounces), and the Junior Trophy for the largest brown trout.

Other winners: Brook Trout/Splake: overall, Jerry Newton, 3-pounds, 2-ounces. Brown Trout: overall, Tony Martin, 2-pounds, 10 ounces. Togue, overall, Tyler Leonard, 8-pounds, 3-ounces; Junior, Sonny May. Salmon: overall, Joe Fisher, 3-pounds, 2-ounces. Pickerel: overall, and junior, Carrie Cressey, 3-pounds, 14-ounces. Other: Chelsea Lathrope, pike, 4-pounds, 10-ounces.

Among the consolation prize winners were Sam Giles, Scott Buffington and Steve Limerick.

Derby officials would like to say thanks to everyone who helped make the annual event a success.
