LEWISTON – La Survivance Franaise is organizing a bus trip, open to the public, to the third annual Franco-American Day at the State Legislature in Augusta on Thursday, March 18.
Transportation cost is $8.50 a person. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the Blaine House, attend legislative sessions and hear Franco-American singers and musicians in the halls of the legislature. The bus will leave Lewiston at 7:15 a.m. and will be back by 3:30 p.m.

LEWISTON – Association Canado-Americaine, Chapter Martel, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, March 8, at Frye School Hall, 140 Ash St., rear entrance on Horton Street. Those wishing can gather for a noon lunch at Dudley’s at the Ramada Inn. Social games will follow the meeting.
Book talk
AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, at the Woman’s Literary Union, 19 Elm St. Hostesses will be Marguerite Powers, chairwoman, Jean Payne and Shirley Small.
Rosemary Waltos, Auburn Public Library director, will present “Book Talk,” giving highlights on what books are available at the library.
Plummer to talk
AUBURN – Charles Plummer will deliver a sermon given during the Civil War when members of the Auburn Art Club meet Monday, March 8, at the High Street Congregational Church.
The Civil War lecturer-dramatist will recall how Chaplain John Wesley Adams of the New Hampshire 2nd Regiment observed Patriots Day, precursor of the Decoration Day, now Memorial Day.
Margaret Bunker will be assisted as hostess by Judy Johnson and Barbara Randall.
Republicans meet
LEWISTON – The Androscoggin County Women’s Club will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, March 8, at the Ramada Inn. A meeting will be followed by lunch. All Republican women and guests are invited to attend.
New group
LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center’s Comprehensive Cancer Program will sponsor a new support group for cancer patients, their family members and care providers.
The Cancer Wellness and Support Group will begin meeting on Tuesday, March 9, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Conference Room F and G (Isaacson Rooms) on the second floor of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building.
The group will combine support and education with the objective of helping participants develop and maintain skills to enhance wellness and healing. The group will meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

AUBURN – The local chapter of Club Richelieu International will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, 775 Washington St. Topic will be Richelieu’s U.S. District Congress on April 23 to 25 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Great Falls Plaza. Members and guests are invited.
Breastfeeding

Cooking class
LEWISTON – The Many and One Coalition will host a Mexican cooking class and a potluck social on Saturday March 13, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St. Both are free and open to the public.
The class will feature Mexican cooking presented by Nathan Palmer and will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Palmer will prepare a dish in the church kitchen and will later receive a copy of the recipe to try at home.
The potluck social will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Anyone interested is invited to prepare a dish of his or her choice (with ingredients listed on an index card if possible) for the meal.
