LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center’s Senior Health and Wellness Services will offer the following programs to the region’s older residents during March:
The People with Arthritis Can Exercise or Personal Fitness program includes a one-on-one evaluation and exercises designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of motion. The class will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A fee will be charged.
Bladder health consults will be offered by Angela Dubuc, RN, manager of the CMMC Bladder Control Center, on Monday, March 8, and Wednesday, March 24, by appointment. Participants can meet one-on-one to discuss concerns and learn about possible solutions to bladder-related problems. The consults are free.
The Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute will sponsor a free ScoreKeeper cardiac risk assessment screening by appointment on Tuesday, March 23.
Integral to the ScoreKeeper screening process is a software program that creates a personalized report about an individual’s health status. Information provided by ScoreKeeper, if used effectively, can help an individual improve their cardiovascular health.
A hearing screening will be offered on Wednesday, March 24, by appointment. The screening will evaluate the status of the participant’s hearing and identify possible corrective strategies.
“Polymyalgia” will be the topic of a presentation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31. Barbara Aliberti, RN, will discuss how the condition affects the joints. Her presentation will consider diagnosis and treatment. The program is free.
Free blood pressure screenings will be offered on a walk-in basis from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Mondays and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays.
