1929 – 2004
AVON – Carl R. Sweet, 74, of Avon died on March 1, at Central Maine Medical Center after suffering an unexpected heart attack.
He was born on June 16, 1929, the son of Dana and Martha (Marstaller) Sweet. He graduated high school after attending Durham and Portland schools, going on to graduate from Deforest Technical School in Chicago.
He retired in 1994, after a 42 year successful career as a television and appliance technician of which the last 27 years were served at Sears in Manchester, N.H. He then retired to his family home in Avon.
He was outstandingly committed to share the love of God through serving others. He has a life long history of Christian church service particularly dedicated to young people. He was an encouragement to many.
All of his family was happy to see him enjoy his retirement to the fullest, in good health, enjoying many outdoor activities. But most of all they are comforted in knowing he is with the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Audrey Durost Sweet; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lynnette Sweet of Lafayette, La.; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Bob Warnock of Biddeford; and seven grandchildren, Kemerson, Jenny, Tim, and Ben Sweet, Sean and Ryan McCarthy and Joseph Warnock.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah McCarthy.
