AUBURN – With just six players at its disposal, Finlandia still held off Arkansas Baptist and went on to capture the USCAA Women’s National Tournament Championship with 79-78 victory in overtime at Central Maine Community School Wednesday.
Beth Koski drained a game-high 21 points for Finlandia.
Amber Luokkala and Sara Bennett each scored 14 points while Sirard Brookie added 15 for Finlandia.
Sebrina Nelson was the leading scorer for Arkansas Baptist with 17. Porscha Danilles also pitched in with 15 points.
St. Joseph’s 57, NHTI 47
AUBURN – Michelle Softy drained a game-high 24 points for St. Joseph’s College as it pulled off a 57-47 upset over New Hampshire Technical Institute in the USCAA Women’s National Tournament Wednesday.
NHTI was led by Melissa Gravillia who scored a team-high 21 points.
St. Joseph’s Donna Graff also added nine while Zoe Robbins scored eight. With the win, St. Joseph’s nailed down the No. 7 spot in the tourney
Davenport 92,
San Jose Christian 89
AUBURN – Davenport’s Jennifer Rausch took control of the game, scoring 36 points and draining seven 3-pointers as Davenport slipped past San Jose Christian 92-89 in overtime Wednesday.
Erika Stevenson and Beth Ballard combined for 43 of San Jose’s 89 points.
Karen Rugless added 16 points for Davenport. Davenport’s win put them in fifth place in the tourney
Keystone 82,
Paul Smith’s 57
AUBURN – Nicole Zapolski scored a team-high 17 points as Keystone pounded Paul Smith’s College 82-57 in a USCAA Women’s National Tournament matchup Wednesday. Bobbie Arvonio added 14 points, Amy Davis pitched in with 12 and Lynn Archer scored 11 for Keystone.
Fabbie Jones scored a game-high 18 points for Paul Smith’s and Shannon Myree drained 14.
That puts Keystone in third in the tourney.
