Penny drive

RUMFORD – SeniorsPlus began its March for Meals penny drive March 1. During March, Meals on Wheels programs across the nation will be raising money for local Meals on Wheels services. SeniorsPlus operates the Meals on Wheels program in this area. The cost to provide one home-delivered meal is $5.84. Now, the agency has 53 people on a waiting list who can’t get Meals on Wheels because there is not enough money to provide them. “Every penny does count,” said Kim Chaisson, meal site manager. “It doesn’t take much to meet this basic need.” SeniorsPlus is located on Congress Street in Rumford, directly across from the Rumford House of Pizza. For more information phone Kim at 364-3572. Donations made by check may be mailed to SeniorsPlus, 50 Congress St., Rumford, ME 04276.
