RUMFORD – The River Valley Chamber is looking for a few good nominees.
In preparation for its annual dinner and awards night on May 1, the Chamber is looking for nominations for business person of the year, customer service business of the year, volunteer of the year and nonprofit/civic organization of the year.
Nominees for the two business awards must be members of the River Valley Chamber of Commerce. Nominees for the volunteer and nonprofit organization aren’t required to be members.
All nominations must be submitted to Tammi Lyons, executive secretary of the Chamber, by April 1.
In addition to these nominations, the Chamber is also looking for nominations for five people to serve on its Board of Directors. People and businesses from the River Valley’s 10 towns are eligible for nomination. To nominate a board member, people should contact Lyons at 364-3241 for specific criteria.
Among the criteria the Chamber is seeking in a business person of the year: in business for three years or more, community-oriented, extraordinary actions that have brought more work to the area and takes pride in making the communities in which they do business a better place.
For the customer service award, the Chamber is looking for a business that goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide good customer service.
Among the activities the volunteer of the year should have completed are: making a difference in the River Valley, volunteering time to more than one activity and having done something out of the ordinary.
The nonprofit or civic organization chosen for the annual award must be very active in the community and give of themselves to make the River Valley a better place to live, work and play.
Businesses and individuals in Andover, Byron, Roxbury, Carthage, Dixfield, Peru, Mexico, Rumford, Hanover and Canton are eligible for nomination.
