RANGELEY PLANTATION – Voters here will be busy Monday night as they pack the town hall to tackle a beefy warrant that includes 49 articles.

Plantation residents will be asked to raise $30,225 for officer salaries including: $10,000 for tax collector and $10,000 for treasurer positions, both held by Elizabeth Swiney; $6,500 for first assessor Cary Keep; and $900 apiece for second and third assessors Marshall Swain and Anne Cooper, respectively.

The largest amount voters will be asked to raise in a single article is $180,000 for tuition to send students to Rangeley Lakes Regional School.

Roads will also be a big ticket item as residents are recommended to raise $30,000 for town roads, $25,000 for winter roads and $10,000 for town road improvement and bridges.

Fire and ambulance protection are also big ticket items, expected to cost $24,068 and $31,529, respectively.

Rangeley Plantation assessors have recommended voters raise $32,000 to operate the plantation’s transfer station and $350 to print the plantation report.

Local organizations are also in line to get a boost from the town. Assessors recommend the plantation raise $1,300 to support the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce, $1,000 for Rangeley Area Meals for the Elderly, $4,000 to support improvement of snowmobile trails by the local snowmobile club and $200 to support the Rangeley Guides and Sportsmen Association.

Town Clerk Carole Haley says there is generally a good turnout.

Early on in the meeting, residents will raise their hands to show support to those running for municipal office.

Incumbent Town Clerk Haley, incumbent treasurer and tax collector Swiney and incumbent assessor Anne Cooper look for re-election and are unopposed. Incumbent George Haley is running unopposed for a one-year road commissioner’s spot, a three-year school board position and a constable post.
