OXFORD – Plans for the Oxford Business Park will appear for approval at the March 13 town meeting.

Western Maine Development has been able to secure a $232,500 grant – the second largest in the state – from the state’s new Municipal Investment Trust Fund program for infrastructure improvements to the park.

A business is waiting in the wings to buy the first two lots in the park, a total of around 20 acres, closest to Route 26, according to officials.

The improvements will include a new access road from Route 26 to Number Six Road, and improvements to Number Six Road up to the railroad tracks.

Also planned are installation of three-phase power and minor wetland mitigation in the path of the new road.

After the new road is built, traffic will be one-way only entering from the old entrance to Number Six Road.

Western Maine Development spokesperson Marcy Boughter said there will need to be a special town meeting on the plans, which will be taken up by the Planning Board at next Thursday’s meeting.

Barb Olson of Western Maine Development, which has invested $147,000 in the project, said the park was an ideal parcel to be included in the Pine Tree Zone Development program.

The town’s Economic Development Committee strongly supports the park plan, said member Ron Kugell.

Boughter said she hopes construction on the park improvements can be started in late spring.
