READFIELD – Maranacook Community High School students are performing “Fiddler on the Roof” in March.

The cast includes KJ Axell (Tevye), Lindsey Kaley (Golde), Sam Watson (Motel), Terri Ball (Chava), Anna Snow (Hodel), Jo Irland (Tzeitel), Whitney Butler (Fruma-Sarah), Ben Bachelder (Mordcha), Nori Down (Bielke), Eric Carlsen (Lazar Wolf), Ashley Callan, Bille Axell, John Kozak (Avram), Eliza Stinneford, Josh Lake (Perchik), Nathaniel Flaschner Meyer (Rabbi), Lizzy Fletcher (Shprintze), Barclay Mitchell (Mendel), Greg Schulz (Fyedka), Christina Spencer (Yente), Matt Bessette (Nachum), Justin Cox, Allyson Upton (Grandma), Karen McPhedran (Shaindel), Christopher Hewett, Jason Giacomazzo, Ricky Martin (Sasha), Maisie Libby (Fiddler) and Tom Martinelli (Constable).

Ensemble members are Paula Parpart, Kate Jennings, Neal Morton, Abby Cook, Julie Virgin, Alyssa Woodcock, Peach Chaiputhi and BJ Sandler.

The story takes place in the Russian village of Anatevka where the villagers try to scratch out a simple living. These traditions come into conflict when the political tide changes and the Russian government relocates its Jewish residents.

This is told through Tevye, the dairy man, and his family. This often-touching play finds humor and compassion in the lives of these citizens.

The show is directed by Peter Duffy and choreographed by Tara Wicks, assisted by Lisa Lane.

Music direction is by Rosalea Kimball and scenic design is by Jeff Adelberg. Costume mistress is Maggie McKinney. Other technical assistance is provided by Kyle Jarius, Matt Opuda, Taryn Kelly, and Megan Woodcock.

Performance dates are March 12 to 14 and 18 to 21. Evening performances are at 7 p.m., except Thursday, March 18, which is at 8 p.m. Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 with reserved seating. Call 685-4923, ext. 357, to reserve tickets.
