LEWISTON – Doris R. Mackay, 96, of Schooner Estates, 200 Stetson Road, Auburn, died Saturday, March 13, at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born in East Peru, March 3, 1908 the daughter of John S. and Grace Holman Russell. She graduated from Dixfield High School in 1925 and Auburn Maine School of Commerce in 1927. She was married June 8, 1928 to George Arlington Mackay who predeceased her Oct. 12, 1996.
She was employed by the City of Auburn as tax collector and treasurer from 1943 until 1970. She was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Buteau and husband Roland of Westbrook and Lois Case and husband David of Auburn; four grandchildren, Roger Buteau, Debra Marcoux, Cynthia Forrest and Russell Case and five great-grandchildren.
