SOUTH PARIS – Green certification of forestland will be the topic of Thursday night’s meeting of the western Maine chapter of the Small Woodland Owner’s Association of Maine. Mandy Farrar, SWOAM’s certification administrator, will give a presentation on the group’s program at 7 p.m. March 18, in the Forum at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. The talk and PowerPoint presentation will explain the pilot certification program through the American Forest Foundation’s Tree Farm standards and what SWOAM hopes to accomplish in the future. SWOAM has certified more than 18,000 acres so far in the voluntary program. The meeting is open to all. The Forum is located near the front entrance. Signs will be posted. For more information, contact chapter President Bill Haynes at 583-2963 or [email protected].
