Adams seeking District 68 seat

AUBURN – Former Auburn City Councilor David Adams will vie for the city’s northernmost Maine House district seat. Adams has announced his bid for the Democratic nomination to the Maine House of Representatives District 68 seat in this year’s primary. The new district was drawn by the Legislature this year and includes parts of City Council Wards 1, 2, 3 and 4. It replaces District 72. That seat is currently held by Republican Rep. Thomas Shields. A retired field cost estimator with Central Maine Power, Adams has lived in the city since 1971 and plans to run as a Clean Elections candidate. In a written statement, Adams said defending the governor’s Dirigo Health Insurance Plan from proposed funding cuts is one of his top priorities. “I attended many of the Dirigo hearings and the Blaine House signing only to see the threat of raiding it by $20 million,” he said. “I want to be elected to the State House of Representatives to be a part of preventing things like this from happening.”
