FREEPORT – Arthur “Stan” Davis Jr., 75, of Freeport died Friday, March 19, after a valiant fight with cancer.
He was born June 30, 1928, in Freeport, a son of Arthur Stanwood Davis Sr. and Sadie (Stetson) Davis. A self-employed contractor for many years, he had owned and operated Davis and Hanscom Inc. of Steep Falls since 1977.
A 50 year plus member of the Freeport Fire Dept., he was the safety officer for the Freeport Fire Company and a member of Freeport Masonic Lodge #23.
He loved his family, camping, stockcar racing, fishing and hunting. He lost the love of his life, his wife, Florence “Ginny” V. (Heath) Davis on April 3, 2003.
Surviving are his daughters, Dorothy Carrier and her husband, Richard of Harpswell, Judy Davis of Topsham, Roxie Farley and her husband, Ken of Pownal, Sandy Rowe and her husband, Dave of Durham and Bonnie Davis of Lisbon; six grandchildren, Jason Cass, Theresa Cass, Amy Rowe, Adam Rowe, Sarah Rowe and Christopher Carrier; a great-grandson, Brandon Davis Cass; a sister, Beverly Scammon of Freeport; a brother, Richard Davis of Florida and his faithful dog, Hunter.
He was also predeceased by two brothers, Linwood Davis and Roland Davis.
