FARMINGTON – A county soil and conservation program is collecting orders for its annual shrub and tree sale.

Numbers are limited on the more than 95 items the Franklin County Soil and Conservation District has remaining so if people are planning to place an order, it needs to be done soon.

The deadline for ordering is Wednesday, March 31. Pickup date is scheduled Friday, May 7.

These fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, conifers and flowering shrubs are sold on a first come, first serve basis, said District Manager Rosetta Thompson.

All shrubs and trees that come from Roaring Brook are guaranteed as follows: Any plant that has not shown signs of life by July 1 and is reported to the district by July 15 will be replaced for half its original cost the following growing season.

This is a fund-raiser for the district to help it provide educational programs, including Agriculture Day at the Farmington Fair and environthon activities.
