1946 – 2004

LEWISTON – Charles “Charlie” Edward Adams, 57, of Canton, past away suddenly, Sunday, March 21, at the Central Maine Medical Center with family and friends by his side.

He was born Sept. 24, 1946, in Jay, a son of Bernard and L. Mabel Adams Jr. He attended Canton schools graduating from Canton High School in 1965.

On March 15, 1969, he married the love of his life, Brenda Louise Campbell, at the Bradbury Memorial Chapel in Canton, where they made their home.

“Charlie” went to work at International Paper Co. in Jay during the fall of 1965, where he worked for 38 years, retiring in Nov. of 2003. Not one to be idle, he continued working driving a pulp truck hauling wood.

He was always there to lend a helping hand and enjoyed life to the fullest.

He loved the water and was a certified SCUBA diver who also loved to swim and water-ski. He loved to work in his garden and anything to do with the outdoors including smelting, fishing and hunting.

During the winter months, he enjoyed snowmobiling and ice fishing and maple sugaring in the spring. He took tremendous pride in birdwatching and spent many days watching an eagle from his living room window. He was an avid photographer and absolutely loved cats. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was quite a good polka and square dancer.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father and son, will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda with whom he just celebrated 35 years of marriage; a daughter, Prudy Adams of Livermore; a son, Russell Adams and his wife, Kelly of Canton; parents, Bernard and L. Mabel Adams Jr. of Canton; a sister, Joan Kneeland and her husband, Richard of Windham; two grandchildren, Mason T. King and Carolyn F. Campbell, and another expected in four weeks; parents-in-law, Ralph and Eunice Campbell Jr. of Canton; brothers-in-law, Errol Campbell of Newport and Roger Campbell of Livermore; sisters-in-law, Kathy Campbell of Norway and Roselyn Taylor of Portland; four nephews James Kneeland and his wife Santanna and family of Bridgewater, N.H., Randall Kneeland and his wife Susan and family of Reading, Mass., Randy Campbell of Albion, Mich., and Steven Campbell and his wife Joyce of Auburn; a niece, Emily Taylor of Portland; many aunts and uncles.
