Jerry Savitz received 54 votes
in his victory.
ANDOVER – Jerry Savitz won the selectman seat in Andover Tuesday night over incumbent Selectman Laura Hutchins who served as selectman on and off for nine years.
The vote was 56 for Savitz and 24 for Hutchins.
Savitz and his wife retired to Andover in 1996 from New Jersey and he has already been involved in town activities as a volunteer. Savitz plans to make his services more available to the town as selectman but has already worked on Old Home Days in charge of gardens. He was principal park naturalist for the Monmouth County park system in New Jersey and executive director of a nonprofit organization that he called, Friends of the Park. He says he looks forward to serving the town as selectman.
The race for SAD 44 school board director for a three-year term was by write-in ballots. Keith Farrington won the seat with 38 write-ins followed by Kelly Scotti with 17.
