CLEARWATER, Fla. – Toby Johnson scattered five hits to earn the complete game win and Eric Stechmesser delivered a pair of RBI singles to lead Millikin University to a 5-2 win over the University of Southern Maine in a seven-inning game Wednesday.
Matt Wyatt and Cory Getz each posted a pair of hits and an RBI each for the Big Blue (6-6) win.
Colin Loveless and Adam Lemieux were credited with the Huskies’ (3-4-1) two runs. USM pitcher Marc Cahill, who went the distance, surrendered 10 hits (eight singles) and fell to 0-2 on the season.
Softball Colby takes two
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Colby College softball team improved to 5-2 in Florida and won two more tight games with victories over Plymouth State and Oneonta State on Wednesday afternoon.
Colby came up with an unearned run in the eighth inning to pull out the 3-2 win against Plymouth State in the opening game. Lauren Olmsted punched out a homer among her two hits for the winners. Wendy Bonner, Elizabeth Riley, and Essie Widlanski all had two hits for Colby. Kara Fagan had one run and one hit.
Lindsey Toomey went six innings to help earn the 5-3 victory over Oneonta State in the second game of the day. Miki Starr had a home run to lead off the game for the Mules. Bonner went 3-for-3, Michaelyn Bortolotti had two hits and two runs, and Megan Bovill smacked a triple and scored.

Colby 9, Williams 7
CELEBRATION, Fla. – The Colby College Mules posted a 9-7 league win over Williams College on Wednesday afternoon in men’s lacrosse action.
Josh Cleaver had three goals and two assists in leading the Mules (2-1, 1-1). Rory Murphy added one goal and two assists, while Matt Roland finished with two goals. Ryan Glennon and Sean Murphy both had one goal and one assist, Dan Schupack had one goal, and Nick Owens added one assist for the Mules victory.
