AUBURN – Roopers/Fireside Inn (1) will take on Gemini (5) in Monday’s 6:00 championship round game in the Auburn Rec Men’s Slowdown Basketball League playoffs.

Roopers/Fireside advanced to the finals this week with a thrilling 58-56 win over GE (3). Jim Collins led with 23 points. Jesse St. Laurent added 14. Frank Perry tossed in 23 for GE. Ryan Giroux was next with 12.

Gemini had to win 3 games in the loser’s bracket to gain the finals. John Stanton hit eight 3-pointers in collecting 30 points in Gemini’s 66-64 victory over LA Dox (10). Dwayne Sugars added 16 markers. Verne Paradie poured in 34 for Dox. Dave Ferraro added 13.

Gemini than knocked off Diesel Boys (2) 73-71 as Matt Winslow drilled a basket at the buzzer. Sugars tallied 22 and Stanton 20. Al Smith torched the nets for 39 points for the Boys. Steve Ford contributed 16.

Gemini then ousted GE 65-41 in the semifinal contest. Winslow led with 20 points. Adding support were Stanton (14) and Sugars (12). Jason Douglas scored 15 for GE.

In an earlier elimination game,. Diesel Boys defeated Thayer Auto (7) 63-52 as Al Smith netted 31 and Scott Corriveau 9. James Whirley (19) and Dave Ferraro (13) led the Automen.
