WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – Jason Ulmer scored twice to lead the Portland Pirates to a 4-2 victory on Saturday over the Worcester IceCats in the American Hockey League.
Colin Forbes and Jared Aulin had Portland’s other goals. Maxime Ouellet stopped 23 shots for the Pirates, who are fighting for a playoff spot in the American Hockey League’s Atlantic Division.
Blake Evans and John Pohl scored for Worcester, which saw its five-game winning streak snapped.
Evans put the IceCats ahead 1-0 at 4:51 of the second period. Ulmer tied it at 5:33, then Forbes gave his team the lead for good at 8:33.
Aulin scored an unassisted power play goal at 1:42 of the third period before Pohl countered with a power play goal of his own at 9:45. Ouellet and the Portland defense were able to protect the lead the rest of the way.
Ulmer finished the scoring on an empty net at 19:59.
