BRUNSWICK – Mike Buckley went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Bowdoin College to a 7-2 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington in collegiate baseball action Wednesday.

Tom McMahon chipped in for the Polar Bears (11-4) with a solo home run in the fourth inning, while Nick Lawler went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Erik Morrison went seven innings on the hill, allowing three hits to earn the win.

Oliver Pettengil led the Beavers (0-4) with two hits, and scored one run scored. Tom Danylick also scored. Zachary Reed allowed 13 hits in eight innings and was saddled with the loss.

Women’s lacrosse
Colby 20, Bates 7

LEWISTON – Cara Dionisi scored three goals and added a pair of assists to lead Colby to a 20-7 women’s lacrosse win over Bates.

Emma Miller and Courtney Drake also tallied three goals for the Mules (3-4). Catherine O’Brien made 15 saves in net.

Erica Nason led the Bobcats with two goals, while Allison Marshall chipped in with a pair of assists.

Men’s lacrosse
Amherst 7, Bates 6

AMHERST, Mass. – Andrew Syfu took a feed from Derek Cherney and fired it into the net to lift Amherst College to a 7-6 win over Bates in men’s collegiate lacrosses action Wednesday night.

The contest was played in a torrential downpour, yet Cherney seemed to thrive in it. He tallied five goals, including the game-tying point in the third quarter.

Brad Frost led the Bobcats (2-3) with two goals, while Matt Erisman, John D’Ascenzo, Dan Ross and Wes Couture all tallied once. Paul Kazarian made eight saves in net for Bates.
