AUBURN – The Auburn Winter Carnival held snowshoe races recently at the Central Maine Community College which the American Snowshoe Union was responsible for organizing. During these races, the individuals accumulate points for the season, and when the season ends, they are presented awards.

Current standings with one more competition left are: Male athlete, Chris Herrick, Pastime Club of Lewiston, Carl Parise Jr. and Justin Welch, both of the Paresseux Club of Rumford.

Female athlete: Melanie Arsenault, Indian Club, Lewiston; Tiffany Cloutier, Joliette Club, Berlin, N.H.; and Dana Price, Acme Club.

Tiny Tot Boys: lan Fortin, Paresseux Club; Michael Corruth, Rochambeau Club, Biddeford; and Brett Bonmil, Chanteclerc Club, Lowell, Mass.

Tiny Tots Girls: Gretchon Bradbury, Makala Conley and Christine Briggs, all from Paresseux Club.

The next competition will be Sunday, March 21, at Sunday River Inn in Newry, starting at 10 a.m. with the 3K and 11:30 with the 1K. Afternoon races start at 12:30 p.m. This will be the last snowshoe race for the season, with the award banquet to be held at the Pastime Club on Saturday, April 10.
