NORWAY – Members of the Oxford Hills Area Clergy Association will join with others in the community for the annual Good Friday Walk.
For many years, this community ritual has been shared by a large group of clergy and laity. Walkers will gather at 1 p.m. Friday, April 9, at the Universalist Church in Norway. There will be brief stops at churches along the way, ending at Trinity Lutheran Church in South Paris.
Walkers will share in a prayer and a hymn at each of the seven churches proceeding from the Universalist Church to Second Congregational, Norway; to Christ Episcopal and St. Catherine’s; to Deering Memorial United Methodist to the First Congregational in South Paris; and on to the Lutheran Church.
Past walkers have found it helpful to carpool, by driving one car to Norway at the beginning of the walk, and parking one car in South Paris for the end of the walk, allowing walkers to be returned to Norway. For walkers who want to go only part way; there should be drivers that can transport them back, organizers said. Other churches taking part in the walk but not along the path are First Baptist Church of Paris; Otisfield Free Baptist; Hosanna Church, Oxford; and Oxford Advent Christian.
