Responders to a question on the Healthy Community Coalition survey about things that have happened to them in the past 12 months showed:

n 35.7 percent had two weeks or more during which they felt sad or depressed or lost all interest in things that they usually cared about or enjoyed.

n 31.8 percent had lots of bills they could not pay.

n 24.7 percent worried about heating their home during the winter.

n 24.2 percent had someone very close to them that had a bad problem with drinking or drugs.

n 21.2 percent had tooth or mouth problems that made it hard for them to eat.

n 20.9 percent felt very alone or isolated.

n 14.8 percent had either themselves or husband/partner who lost his or her job.

n 14.3 percent did not feel safe at home.

n 13.4 percent often worried that food in their household would run out before they had money to buy more.

n 7.6 percent felt the need to cut down on drinking alcohol.
