MEXICO – The Mexico First Baptist Church, 20 Roxbury Rd., will have no regular prayer meeting on Thursday night, April 8. Instead, the church will have a special Good Friday observance on April 9. The church will be open between 1 and 5 p.m. for a private meditation of Christ’s death on the cross.
A wood cross will be displayed and nails will be provided for each family to pound into the cross to commemorate the fact that every human being is ultimately responsible for driving the nails into Christ’s body.
Following the special time, the church will hold a Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. to begin with the nail-pierced cross being carried to the front of the sanctuary. The service will be musical, with pictures in the background, then the pastor will have a short meditation to conclude.
Easter Sunday will open with a Sonrise service at 7 a.m. A breakfast will follow at 7:45.
Sunday school will commence at 9:30 and day will climax with a Sunday Easter worship service at 10:45 a.m. when the resurrection of Christ will be celebrated, with special music provided by the First Baptist Choir, the First Baptist Worship Team and a solo by the congregation. Pastor Bob Peters will provide a special Easter message. There will be no evening service. The public is invited for all these activities. For more information call 364-8712.
