MEXICO – The First Baptist Church will hold a children’s party, “Spring Fling,” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 12. All children in the River Valley area are invited.

It will include outdoor Olympic-type games, refreshments, songs and a wrap-up of the study of the Christian armor as it relates to the challenges that face kids today. The program is designed for children in prekindergarten through grade six. Parents are invited.

The church also has a program, Teen Pulse, for middle and high school teenagers from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday (exception when Tuesday is not a school day). The teens have games, devotions and snacks. All teen in the River Valley area are welcome. For more information call Pastor Bob or Joy Peters at 364-8850.

Financial aid

DIXFIELD – GEAR UP will host four evening events to provide opportunities for parents and students at Dirigo High School and T.W. Kelly Dirigo Middle School to meet with college admissions and financial aid representatives to answer questions as they prepare their students for college.

All parents, students and community members are invited to attend any of the following: Tuesday, April 13, financial aid with Ron Milliken, director of financial aid at the University of Maine at Farmington; Thursday, April 15, college admissions with Sharon Oliver, director of admissions at the University of Maine at Farmington; Monday, April 26, financial aid with the Finance Authority of Maine; and Thursday, April 29, college admission with Sharon Oliver.

Ticket raffle

DIXFIELD – A raffle for tickets to the Boston Celtics Vs. Atlanta Hawks game on April 14 at the Fleet Center in Boston is under way.

Proceeds will benefit the Dirigo Music Boosters. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will be held Friday, April 9. Call Cyndi at 562-8498, Charlene at 562-8785 or Brenda at 364-2011.
