1921 – 2004
FARMINGTON – Arnold E. Tobin, 83, of Wilton, died Tuesday, April 6, at 4:15 p.m. at Sandy River Nursing Home.
He was born in Wilton, Dec. 18, 1921, the son of Ezra B. Tobin and Nettie Cushman Tobin, He graduated from Wilton Academy in 1939. He married Edith Hinkley in Wilton on July 5, 1941.
Tobin was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army for three years. He worked at the Wilton Woolen Mill, raised broilers, and in 1984, retired as Wilton’s post master. He was a licensed real estate broker, a life member of the American Legion and was active in the Democratic Party. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Wilson Lake Country Club. He enjoyed his family, hunting and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; a daughter, Linda of New Britain, Conn.; a son, Edward Tobin of Fayette; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Clifford and Kenneth. There will be no funeral or burial service.
