PARIS – “The Passion of Jesus” will be the sermon topic at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, on Easter Sunday, April 11. The service will begin at 10 a.m. and Silver Moore-Leamon will be the speaker.
The music will be by Jeannie and Berdina Whittemore, soloists, Renee Wales, flutist, and Forest Perkins, church organist. The organ voluntaries will begin at 9:45. Sunday school will be in session and child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Society meeting
PARIS – With its first program of the 2004 season the Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at its new museum and meeting place at 77 High St. The ca. 1840 Porter Homestead has been refurbished, and the artifacts belonging to the society are on view. Ben Conant, historian, will present the history of the Porter family, who lived in the house for five generations. His talk will be illustrated by pictures of several generations of the family.
The public is invited. Refreshments will follow the program. An open house will take place later in the spring.
Seeking artists
NORWAY – The Western Maine Art Group is making plans for its second annual season as a cooperative art group showing at the Matolcsy Art Center June through September. Artists of two- and three-dimensional work are invited to apply. Those interested should call Joan at 998-4438.
