FREEPORT – The Freeport Community Players will present “Steel Magnolias” April 15-18, April 23-25 and April 30, May 1 and May 2 at the new Freeport Performing Arts Center on Holbrook Street.
“Steel Magnolias” is a poignant and often hilarious look at the eclectic mix of Southern ladies who frequent Truvy’s Beauty Salon.
Five strong women join to support young Shelby as she marries, gives birth and tries to live a normal life, despite her struggles with juvenile (Type One) diabetes.
The Freeport Community Players will partner with the National Kidney Foundation of Maine for this show, providing information on diabetes and organ and tissue transplants. A portion of the profits will help support the U.S. Transplant Games.
Shows are at 7:30 p.m., with the exception of a 2 p.m. performance May 2.
Tickets are $10, $8 for students, seniors and the April 15 review.
