ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) – Ronny Paulino had three RBIs, and Chris Duffy went 4-for-5 to lead the Altoona Curve to an 8-5 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Saturday in the Eastern League.

Altoona (3-0) is one win shy of matching the best start in franchise history, while Portland (0-3) equaled its worst start ever. The 2000 Sea Dogs also opened 0-3.

The Curve rallied from deficits of 1-0, 2-1 and 4-2 over the first four innings. They took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the sixth off reliever Eric Glaser (0-1). Paulino singled in Ray Sadler for a 5-4 edge, and Duffy singled home Jeff Keppinger.

Paulino had an RBI double in the eighth and scored on Brandon Chaves’ sacrifice fly to make it 8-4. Portland had the tying or go-ahead run come to the plate each of the final five innings.

The Sea Dogs closed within 8-5 on Mike O’Keefe’s sacrifice fly in the ninth, then Elio Serrano recorded the final out for his second save.

Brady Borner (1-0) won in relief for the Curve. Sadler hit a solo homer for Altoona, and Eric Johnson had a two-run blast for the Sea Dogs.
