AUGUSTA – The Maine Legislature recently recognized Franklin Savings Bank’s Cindy Spencer of Wilton for being named a 2004 America’s Promise Volunteer by the Maine Bankers Association and the Maine Association of Community Banks.
Spencer, vice president, credit risk management, was one of 25 Maine bankers who received the award Thursday at the State House during Bankers’ Day at the Legislature.
Each year, Maine bankers celebrate the financial industry’s commitment to volunteerism and community contributions by making the awards.
Spencer volunteers in SAD 9 as a classroom consultant in basic economics for Junior Achievement of Maine.
She assists as students in the third grade design a community. Spencer also guides eighth-graders through the credit reporting process.
Spencer is also involved on the SAD 9 Principal’s Advisory Council. She coaches soccer at the Wilton Recreation Department and participates in American Cancer Relay for Life.
Other Franklin Savings Bank participants in Bankers’ Day included Jay Branch Manager Chris Guild, who shadowed Rep. Ray Pineau, D-Jay, Chief Financial Officer Deborah Rowe, who shadowed Rep. Randy Hotham, R-Dixfield, Rumford Commercial Lender Rich Allen, who shadowed Sen. Bruce Bryant, D-Dixfield, Executive Vice President Peter Judkins, who shadowed Sen. Chandler Woodcock, R-Farmington, and Marketing Director Anna Lyon, who shadowed Rep. Janet Mills, D-Farmington.
