SEATTLE – Rashard Lewis scored 25 points and the Seattle SuperSonics avoided being swept by the Dallas Mavericks this season with a 119-99 victory on Saturday.

Dallas, which had a six-game winning streak snapped, played without No. 2 scorer Michael Finley, who sat out because of back spasms.

Rookie guard Marquis Daniels led the Mavericks with a career-high 33 points.

The Sonics are going to be an NBA lottery team for the second year in a row and the Mavericks are headed back to the playoffs, where they reached the Western Conference finals last season.

But Dallas looked like the lottery team as Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash had horrible shooting games. Nowitzki scored 10 points on 3-for-15 shooting, while Nash, who didn’t score a basket until 5:59 was left, had four points on 2-for-10 shooting.

The Sonics got 18 points from veteran guard Brent Barry, who may leave Seattle as a free agent during the offseason, and 17 points from Ray Allen, their only All-Star.

Rookie Luke Ridnour, who started at point guard for Seattle, had 16 points and a career-high 13 assists.

Seattle led 85-60 after Lewis’ dunk in the third quarter before the Mavericks ran off 10 unanswered points. But Ronald Murray ended the period with a pair of layups in the final minute, and Seattle led 91-73 going into the final quarter.

In the second quarter, the Sonics took advantage of the poor shooting from Nowitzki and Nash, who were a combined 1-for-7 in the period, to go in front 66-46 at halftime. Seattle led by 21 points twice in the period, the first time on a fast-break dunk by Murray on a full-court pass from Lewis for a 60-39 lead. The Sonics connected on 6-of-10 3-point attempts in the quarter.

The Sonics led 28-21 after the first quarter although Lewis played only two minutes after picking up two quick fouls. Barry came off the bench to replace Lewis and scored seven points.

Notes: Finley, who has started 70 games for Dallas this season, was injured in the Mavericks’ home victory over Utah on Thursday night. Josh Howard started in Finley’s spot Saturday. … The Sonics started Ridnour for the fourth time this season. Ridnour also will start in Seattle’s final two games, too.
