GREENE – Christos Gianopoulos has submitted nomination papers with the secretary of state to have his name placed on the Nov. 2 ballot for election to the Maine State House of Representatives from District 75.

Gianopoulos is an independent business consultant with an office in Lewiston. He has held positions of responsibility in Greene, serving as selectman and chairman of the Planning Board. He also worked for several years on the nonpartisan legislative staff of the Maine Legislature where he was involved in assisting standing committees, such as Agriculture and Transportation, with their work. Gianopoulos sees restraint on state spending and economic development as major issues to tackle in the next few years.

He and his wife have lived on the North River road in Greene since 1972. They have a grown son who serves in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Gianopoulos grew up in Sanford and graduated from Bowdoin College. He holds graduate degrees from American and Syracuse universities and is a decorated Vietnam veteran.
