State crews should begin work Monday on Court, Goff and Spring streets in Auburn and on Route 202 in Greene.
State crews will also be working on Mount Auburn Avenue at Turner Street on Monday.
In downtown Auburn, crews should begin working at the intersection of Court and Goff streets, extending west up Goff Hill on Court Street and north on Goff Street. They’ll also work on Spring Street beginning at Goff Street.
“On all of these projects, we’re going to be grinding off some of the existing pavement to put down a new layer of pavement,” said Bill Bourne of the Maine Department of Transportation. “On the Court Street project, we’re also going to be making sidewalk and curbing improvements.”
In Greene, crews will begin at the Lewiston city line and work to repave north to Allen Pond Road.
“Drivers can expect to encounter delays on the Route 202 project in Greene, especially during commuter hours because there are times when we’ll have to limit traffic to a single lane with alternating one-way traffic,” Bourne said.
City of Auburn crews continue working on sidewalks along Turner Street, according pavement management technician Paul Niehoff. Niehoff said he hopes to meet with contractors this week to discuss other summer projects. They could be ready to begin paving on Western Avenue next week, he said.
In Lewiston, public works crews are concentrating on spring cleanup, which begins Monday. Public Works Director Dave Jones said the city may try to start some simple paving and patching projects next week, however.
