CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – The union that represents state workers organized a live Easter egg hunt after finding out that Gov. Craig Benson was hosting his in cyberspace.
Traditionally, the governor holds an Easter egg hunt on the grounds of Bridges House, the governor’s official residence in East Concord. Many of those attending in years past have been the children of state workers.
But for the second year in a row, Benson decided to have a virtual Easter egg hunt on the state’s Web site instead. Benson believes it’s a better way to connect with today’s computer-savvy children.
Members of the State Employees Association rushed in to fill the gap. About 150 children came to the live hunt they organized in a Concord park Saturday, with prizes, candy and a costumed Easter bunny.
Several children said a computerized egg hunt wouldn’t be as much fun because they couldn’t run around and search for eggs or get candy.
Benson applauded the union for organizing the live egg hunt.
