Megan Marcoux’s two-run double inspires Lewiston.
BRUNSWICK – Megan Marcoux smacked a two-run double in the sixth inning to give Lewiston the lead and eventual win as the Blue Devils defeated Brunswick 5-2 in softball Monday afternoon.

Kim Bechard had a double and an RBI, while Jess Nadeau hit two singles for the Blue Devils (1-0). Nicole Caron had a solid day on defense, while Amanda Michaud pitched a two-hitter for Lewiston.

Brunswick (0-1) was paced by Jenn Timreck with a double in the fifth inning.
Leavitt 22, Mt. Blue 0
TURNER- Melissa Chadbourne slammed a double to knock in a run to help give Leavitt a 22-0 shutout over Mt. Blue Monday.

Pitcher Sam St. Hilaire threw 11 strikeouts for the Hornets (1-0).

The Cougars’ (0-1) Sam Jewel hit a double late in the fifth.
Poland 17, Freeport 3
FREEPORT – Kelli O’Connor threw a one-hitter, racking up 11 strikeouts, as Poland dominated Freeport 17-3 in softball action Monday afternoon.

Meghan Ford had three hits, including a single, a double, and a triple, while also recording three RBI. Rachel Roberts came off the bench to slap a triple and a sacrifice fly for the Knights (2-0). The Knights capitalized on a series of wild pitches, recording five extra runs on those miscues

Sabrina Best hit a two-run triple late in the sixth inning for Freeport (0-2).
Oxf. Hills 3, Lawrence 2
FAIRFIELD- Chelsea Cummings hit a single, knocking in Natasha Dubois and Bailey Halloway with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give Oxford Hills a 3-2 victory over Lawrence Monday afternoon.

The Vikings (1-0) began scoring in the seventh inning after a scoreless first six innings.

Kaera Walsh remained the pitcher throughout for the Bulldogs (0-1), allowing only three hits. The Bulldogs scored twice in the first inning.
