The 13-month-old dog will be euthanized.
JAY – Two women were bitten by a 13-month-old chow Saturday. The owner of the dog plans to have the dog euthanized after the quarantine is up and a veterinarian checks it out, the animal control officer said.

The dog attacked the first woman after the owner had opened the door to her friend and the dog lunged off the stairs and bit her arm, leaving deep puncture wounds, and broke skin on her stomach, police officer Russell Adams said.

The dog took off running from Knowles Circle, Animal Control Officer Larry Wright said, and the owner took her friend to a Farmington hospital.

In the meantime, the chow wandered into a Pinewood Road yard, and attacked a woman there, Wright said.

She had puncture wounds on her leg, Adams said, and, after reporting the bites to police she went to the hospital.

The dog will be quarantined for 10 days in the owner’s cellar, and only allowed out on a leash,Wright said.

The dog, which is up-to-date on its rabies shots, will then be examined by a veterinarian.

“The owner plans to euthanize the dog after,” Wright said.

Charges are pending against the owner, he said.
