WILTON – Jon Dunn, a Boy Scout from Wilton Troop 518, gave a presentation on his plans for his Eagle Scout project to members of Franklin Grange 50 at a recent meeting. He is raising money to install a permanent flagpole at the Wilton Town Office.
Dunne is 15 years old and lives in East Wilton with his mother and younger brother. He is a sophomore at Mount Blue High School, plays percussion in the band, has earned highest honors and enjoys sports and hiking. Dunne is also a youth deacon for the United Congregational Church. He is also planning a future in radiology.
In order for Dunne to do his project, he first had to present his idea and plan of action to a committee member, his Scoutmaster, the unit leader and a member of the Kennebec Valley Council. He next raises money by way of donations for the materials and labor.
Dunne said his favorite badge to earn was the one for motorboarding and his least favorite was personal management.
The Grange made a monetary contribution plus a commitment to help with the physical labor when he’s ready to start his project.
