MEXICO – Selectmen have scheduled a series of three meetings over the next two days to discuss issues ranging from a personnel matter to the proposed 2004-05 municipal budget.
On Tuesday, the first of two meetings begins at 5 p.m. in the town office conference room when a personnel issue will be discussed behind closed doors. A related closed session was held last week, as well. No details have been available on the matter.
At 6:30 p.m., the board, along with the town’s Budget Committee, will move downstairs to the Calvin Lyons Town Hall to continue discussion on the development of the proposed 2004-05 municipal budget. Residents will vote on the budget at the annual town meeting on June 7.
The budget figure developed on Tuesday will also be acted on by the Board of Selectmen during its regular twice-monthly meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14.
Besides the proposed town warrant, selectmen will also wrestle with a variety of other matters.
These include an update on the boiler replacement at the Mexico Recreation Center. At a previous meeting, the board discussed the need to spend about $50,000 to replace the boiler.
The board will also discuss, and possibly act on, purchasing a computer system for the highway department, announce plans for the biannual spring cleanup and appoint someone as code enforcement officer/plumbing inspector.
Meetings to be announced are for the Planning Board, set for April 15, and a citizens’ Keep Mexico Moving community forum for April 28.
A closed session also is scheduled to discuss a town manager personnel issue.
