LEWISTON – Organizers of the Blaine House Conference on Maine’s Creative Economy are inviting cultural organizations, and economic and business institutions interested in the development of Maine’s creative economy to submit display-ready materials for its Creative Economy Resource Room.

The conference is scheduled May 6 and 7 in the Bates Mill Complex.

The Creative Economy Resource Room is designed to provide information about economic development opportunities available in Maine to assist creative organizations in strategic planning and business growth initiatives. The resource room is part of the conference’s Creative Economy Showcase, an interactive arena illustrating the creative economy in Maine by highlighting examples of sustainable economic development based on arts, culture and entrepreneurship.

Organizations and businesses interested in submitting printed, display-ready informational materials can apply for exhibit space by e-mailing [email protected] or by calling Abbe Levin at the Maine Arts Commission, (207) 287-2710. Conference planners are requesting a minimum of 250 pieces per material.

The Creative Economy Resource Room is being presented by the Maine Small Business Alliance, The Theater at Monmouth and Maine Fiberarts.

More than 600 participants from across Maine and the United States are expected to attend the conference. It’s designed to bring together business leaders, economic developers and planners, creative entrepreneurs, artistic individuals, and state and local leaders to develop collaborative strategies and policies for pursuing Maine’s Creative Economy initiatives.
