This letter is to comment on Anthem CEO Larry Glasscock and his $42.5 million bonus (editorial, April 12).

My family and I are currently Anthem customers. My husband paid $65 a week for a family of five through his employer. When my husband left his employment and started his new job, we had no choice but to continue our insurance through the COBRA plan until his new insurance takes over in 120 days. Our COBRA cost is $755 a month. Having recently had a major illness, I could not be without insurance.

Larry Glasscock ought to walk in my shoes for a day. Yes, he has increased Anthem profits, but those profits are coming out of my pockets. The average American cannot afford health insurance and this man is raking in $42.5 million.

At $42.5 million, Glasscock could pay for my health insurance for 56,291.4 months, which, of course, is totally outrageous. That is what his bonus is, totally outrageous. He should be ashamed of himself and every corporate type like him.

We should all be aware of what is going on in the health care industry, and we should fight to change it. Looking at this from my point of view, major changes are needed.
