It appears that John Glowa Sr. (letter, April 9) doesn’t think highly about sportsmen and sportswomen. The fact that Mr. Fisk and his out-of-state supporters didn’t show at the legislative hearing on the bear referendum, as well as his in-state supporters, shows that the sportsmen and sportswomen of this state know how to stick together.

He should also know that all the wildlife in the state is here because of the dedicated people in Fish and Wildlife, as well as the sportsmen and women who buy licenses, permits, pay taxes on guns and ammunition, bows and arrows, and rods and reels that we purchase. If it weren’t for us, Mr. Glowa, and a lot of other residents and nonresidents, wouldn’t have any wildlife to view, watch or photograph.

About the only thing correct about his letter is that the fish and wildlife in the state do belong to all of us, so that everyone can reap the harvest; but only a few of us plant the seeds.
